Community Engagement

The Karibu Carbon Project is our flagship Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) initiative. Located in the Kiryandongo District, Uganda, our core mission is to permanently sequester atmospheric.

CO2 and regenerate farmlands, with the aim of creating a model for scalable climate action that also benefits smallholder farmers.

This project is designed for monumental scale, demonstrating how ERW can be deployed to deliver substantial climate benefits:

1. Project Scale: The initiative spans over 125,000 hectares.

2. Crediting Period: The project has a 20-year crediting period.

3. Carbon Removal: It holds a CO2 removal potential exceeding 600,000 CORCS (CO2 Removal Certificates) over its lifetime.

4. Community & Agricultural Impact: The project is envisioned to enrich over 31,250 smallholder farms and regenerate over 125,000 hectares of land. It will involve the spreading of over 2,400,000 tonnes of basalt.

Our approach is deeply human-centric, focusing on direct partnership with local communities. To date, we have onboarded 150 farmers for pilot engagement and have secured registered interest from over 1000 additional farmers in the Kiryandongo District.

We've been working on some very interesting projects. We can't wait to show you the highlights...
