Stack Carbon Launches Ambitious Climate and Community Project in Uganda

In a significant step for both climate action and community development, Stack Carbon has officially flagged off its Karibu Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) project in Kiryandongo, Uganda. This initiative is our most ambitious to date, with a projected reach of over 250,000 hectares by 2035.

Our complete ERW model, developed in close partnership with local smallholder farmers, involves applying finely crushed rock to their land. This science-backed solution not only sequesters atmospheric CO2 into stable carbonates but also delivers crucial co-benefits, including enhanced soil fertility, increased crop yields, and greater resilience to environmental challenges.

We are committed to a data-driven approach to monitoring, reporting, and verification, ensuring this project serves as a replicable blueprint for scaling durable carbon removal across the continent.

We are grateful for the support of our local partners, and the Kiryandongo community for making this transformative work possible.

Building the Foundation for Carbon Removal

The work starts long before we ever break ground. It begins with baseline sampling, a crucial first step in our Karibu Enhanced Rock Weathering (ERW) project. Our science team is on the ground, systematically collecting samples to establish the baseline state of the soil. This forms the foundation of our project, enabling us to precisely track impact and demonstrate the effectiveness of our ๐—ฐ๐—ฎ๐—ฟ๐—ฏ๐—ผ๐—ป ๐—ฟ๐—ฒ๐—บ๐—ผ๐˜ƒ๐—ฎ๐—น efforts.
